Volunteer

The Lake Country SPCA is primarily volunteer-based and we are always looking for help, so if you would like to volunteer to help in any way at all, please feel free to contact us, or come by during business hours to discuss volunteering with us!  Volunteering can mean anything from just socializing with our animals to working the front desk, to cleaning and all things in between!  Hours for helping clean are 8am-12pm. Hours for socializing are Monday -Saturday 12noon-4pm. Please contact us if you have more questions.

You will be required to sign a "Volunteer Waiver". If you are under the age of 18, your parents will have to sign the waiver also. All children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years and older.

Fostering

Pets are placed in foster care for many reasons.  They may be too young, sick or injured, ready to give birth, or need socialization or training.  We also send pets to foster care to open up kennel space for pets coming in from other facilities.  When you foster a pet in need, you are saving a life.  You are providing critical care for your foster pet, paving the way for their journey to a happy, healthy future with a forever family.  Our foster program is an extension of our shelter.  We will help support an approved foster family, whose home is equipped to offer such care, and can make the difference for these animals as well as the lives of the humans who will adopt them.

It's due to the generosity and love for our shelter animals that our foster program is successful. It is a huge commitment and a lot of work to bottle feed sick or orphaned puppies every 2 to 3 hours throughout the night, or medicate sick kittens, or clean up after a nursing mother and her six pups, or work with the dog that has not been trained, but for those who are willing and able, it is a very gratifying experience.

If you are interested in fostering or learning more, please contact us at 434-374-8076 or  Email: lakecountryspca@yahoo.com and learn how you can make a difference in a shelter pet’s life.
